Who We Are

Teresa moved to the Yukon in 1999, and started her first union job in 2002 with the City of Whitehorse. She first got involved as a Shop Steward and since then held various local positions including Local Y046 Vice-President and President for 10 years. Teresa has been active on the board of directors for Yukon Employees Union (YEU) since 2014, and elected as a representative for Public Service Alliance of Canada (PSAC) on a number of regional and national committees and conferences. It has been the advocacy for other and social justice priorities of the union movement that drew her in.

She was elected as President of the Yukon Federation of Labour (YFL) in December 2022, for a 3 year term. She is enjoying the change of pace representing workers full time. She is connecting with all unions that have workers in the Yukon and looking to help organize and support workers that do not yet have the protection of a union. She has been meeting with elected officials to bring forward the issues that matter most for Yukon workers. She brings 20 years of union experience to this role and enjoys mentoring and helping other workers and union activists to succeed in advocating for what is fair and right.

Leslie embarked on his Yukon journey in 2014, initially captivated by the territory's allure during a vacation. In December 2017, he made a permanent move, joining the Yukon Government as a Paramedic. His involvement with unions traces back to 2005 in Manitoba, with earnest engagement as a Shop Steward, paving the way for significant roles in multiple unions over nearly two decades. Since 2018, Leslie served as Assistant Chief Steward, later assuming the roles of Vice-President and President of Local Y010. Additionally, he contributed to the YEU Board of Directors and played crucial roles in monetary and non-monetary bargaining teams for workers with Yukon Government. Leslie's dedication extended regionally and nationally actively participating on several committees and representing the Yukon at the Public Service Alliance of Canada convention.

Elected as the First Vice President of the Yukon Federation of Labour (YFL) in December 2022, he initiated a three-year term, collaborating with unions across the Yukon to organize and safeguard workers' rights. With two decades of union experience, Leslie passionately mentors and supports fellow workers, emphasizing fairness and justice. In his current role, he is committed to advancing workers' rights and fostering a fair and equitable labor landscape in the Yukon through collaboration with the dedicated team and partners.
