YFL ELECTS NEW EXECUTIVE, ACCLAIMS PRESIDENT QUOCKSISTER

WHITEHORSE – Affiliates of the Yukon Federation of Labour (YFL) have acclaimed Vikki Quocksister of the Canadian Union of Postal Workers as President, while adding new members to the executive board and executive council.

Quocksister, who previously served in an interim role after the departure of Don Austin in June of 2012, is excited about the renewed mandate and new executive members.

YFL CONGRATULATES MLAS ON ‘PROBATION’ MOTION

WHITEHORSE – President Vikki Quocksister of the Yukon Federation of Labour (YFL) praised the motion adopted by Yukon’s Legislature yesterday afternoon to move forward on consultations for changes to the Employment Standards act.

Quocksister said it was “an important first step towards improving the working lives of young and new workers in Yukon.”

YFL PROMOTES YUKON WORKERS AT MINING CONFERENCE

VANCOUVER – President Vikki Quocksister of the Yukon Federation of Labour (YFL) will be in Vancouver at the AME BC Roundup Conference promoting Yukon’s most important natural resource – its workers.

“Our message is that Yukon’s workers want to be part of the current development conversation in the north,” said Quocksister. “For safety, for productivity, and for the highest quality of work, you cannot beat union workers. We want to be part of solving the labour challenge in Yukon.”
