Summer Student Job Postings for 2025

The Yukon Federation of Labour is excited to announce 3 Summer Youth and Student job opportunities made possible by Canada Summer Student Job Grants and the Yukon Summer Career Placement Program! These jobs aim to provide quality summer employment opportunities for youth to develop skills and gain paid work experience to successfully transition into the labour market.

All 3 jobs begin this summer for 16 weeks between May and August. Details can be found in the Job postings on YUWIN.ca

  • YFL Administrative Officer – CSJ funded
  • YFL Archival Assistant – CSJ funded
  • YFL Labour Law Student – YSCP funded

CSJ eligibility criteria

To be eligible to apply, youth must be 15 – 30 years of age at the start of employment and legally entitled to work in Yukon, and be a Canadian Citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred.  International students are not eligible. 

YSCP eligibility criteria

To be eligible, applicants must be legally allowed to work in Canada, not a member of the employer’s immediate family, not a current employee and must meet the definition of a Youth or a Student. A YOUTH is defined as a person between the ages of 16 and 25 who does not meet the definition of a student and who has been a Yukon resident since March 1, 2024. A STUDENT is defined as a person over the age of 15 who attended full-time at a secondary, post-secondary or vocational school for at least one semester during the current academic year.

These jobs provide opportunities for youth who are underrepresented in the labour market, such as:

  • youth with disabilities or with organizations that provide services to persons with disabilities
  • youth who are underrepresented in the labour market
  • youth with disabilities
  • Black and other racialized youth
  • Indigenous youth
  • 2SLGBTQI+ youth
  • remote communities

These jobs directly support a small not-for-profit organization, the Yukon Federation of Labour Business Association, in their work supporting vulnerable workers in the Yukon Territory. The successful applicants will provide education and support for workers succeeding in small businesses, which make up 80% of employers in the territory. There will also be creative opportunities for the student to combine history, arts and entertainment in the many public engagement opportunities throughout the summer on labour history and current issues.
