Pride in Solidarity

June 3, 2026

Every worker deserves to be treated with dignity, respect, and fairness, regardless of their sexual orientation, gender identity, or gender expression.

As Pride Month is celebrated across Canada, the Yukon Federation of Labour stands in solidarity with 2SLGBTQI+ workers, families, and communities. Pride is both a celebration of progress and a reminder that the work of building truly inclusive workplaces is not yet complete.

The labour movement has a long history of advancing equality and challenging discrimination. Many of the protections that workers enjoy today were achieved because people came together to speak out, organize, and advocate for change. That work continues as 2SLGBTQI+ workers still face barriers, discrimination, and unequal treatment in workplaces and communities across the country.

Strong unions and strong labour organizations play an important role in ensuring that every worker can participate fully in the workplace without fear of harassment, discrimination, or exclusion. When workers are respected and valued for who they are, workplaces become safer, healthier, and more productive for everyone.

Pride is also about solidarity. It is about recognizing that our collective strength comes from our diversity and our shared commitment to human rights. When we defend the rights of one group of workers, we strengthen the rights of all workers.

The Yukon Federation of Labour remains committed to supporting workplaces where everyone is welcomed, respected, and empowered to succeed. We celebrate the contributions of 2SLGBTQI+ workers and reaffirm our commitment to equality, inclusion, and justice for all.

This Pride Month, let us continue working together to build a future where every person can live, work, and thrive free from discrimination.

In solidarity,

Everett Ledoux
President
Yukon Federation of Labour
