Unity in Dignity: Combating Sexual Harassment at Work

This online workshop will be a safe space for participants and will allow time for Q&A. You’ll need the Zoom app to connect, and we recommend that you plan to join with a laptop in a private space, with a reliable internet connection.

Studies indicate that upward of 20% of women employees in Canada state that they have been sexually harassed but a much lower percentage officially report harassment.  This workshop will help you define and recognize what is sexual harassment and what is sexual abuse, and help you address gender-based violence in the workplace. Others feel the negative impact of workplace sexual harassment (WSH) including bystanders who witness it.

While most people recognize that a physical advance or a sexual invitation constitutes sexual harassment, the term actually encompasses a much wider scope of behaviour.

You will hear from expert lawyers, explaining the law in the area of WSH, helping you determine when a concern actually constitutes WSH, helping address circumstances which may pose an immediate physical or legal danger and referring you to local resources.  They will also review what is generally involved in a workplace investigation for harassment.

You will also hear from the Yukon’s Sexualized Assault Response Team (SART) and learn about their safe and confidential network of services that focus on the needs and choices of Yukoners.
