There are many ways that workers in Yukon are impacted by Federal Labour Law.  Join us for an quick study from Jessica, a Yukon worker, who will share highlights from an intensive one week course from the Canadian Labour Congress.

This course presents an overview of federal labour legislation and its impact on the strategies and actions of unions. Among the topics to be explored are: certification and dispute settlement procedures; unfair labour practices; the duty to bargain in good faith; strikes, lockouts, and picketing; the duty of fair representation; management and union rights; and grievance arbitration law. Students will learn about legal research using basic text books, annotated statutes, and online research tools.

This is great for a Shop Steward to learn how to prepare for a grievance hearing or labour management meeting.

This Saturday morning half-day workshop will be packed with great information and tools for Yukon workers, particularly those that are federally regulated. This workshop will be offered in person and virtually, be sure to indicate how you plan to attend when you register.

If you chose to attend virtually, make sure you have a quiet, focussed space with a computer/laptop, internet access, and ability to join by video and audio (ie, headset, webcam, microphone). You also want to make sure you download the Zoom application ahead of time.
