Support workers facing extraordinary bargaining challenges

Canadian Union of Postal Workers
August 13 – the members of CUPW, in both the urban and the rural and suburban bargaining units, voted decisively to reject Canada Post’s final offer.
CUPW has attempted to get Canada Post back to the bargaining table, to finally work to negotiate a fair and equitable agreement that meets the needs of the workers.
While the Corporation has conditionally accepted CUPW’s invitation, in the time it took to respond, it chose to go on the attack again. Without any consultation with CUPW, Canada Post issued directives instructing rural carriers to not raise red flags on rural and remote areas mailboxes. Reducing customer service standards is hardly the way to bring stability to the postal service, and CUPW would have opposed this measure.
CUPW has requested your assistance by taking the following actions:
1. Write to your MP. These letters should call on Canada Post to negotiate fairly and urge the federal government to stop interfering in the bargaining process, specifically to commit to no more back-to-work legislation or imposed votes. Actively denounce the federal Government’s interference in the collective bargaining process, interference that has just prolonged the negative impacts for workers and communities.
2. Amplify public support: Post the attached “Negotiate Now” poster in both English and French across all social media platforms. This will not only demonstrate solidarity with CUPW members but also help raise public awareness and mobilize community support for fair negotiations.
Your assistance in this matter would be great appreciated.
